Baseball National Letter of Intent Signings

ZACH GRONEK, a 6-3, 195-pound pitcher from Francis Howell High School in St. Charles, Mo.: Gronek finished the 2007 season with a 3-1 record and 3.30 earned run average while striking out nearly five batters per seven innings pitched. One of his wins last season came over state runner-up Holt. Gronek was also named to the Gateway Athetic Conference's all-academic team.
JORDAN PHILLIPS, a 5-11, 180-pound outfielder from Belleville East High School in Belleville, Ill.: Phillips was a .293 hitter last season at Belleville East with team-high totals of four home runs and 25 runs batted in. As a sophomore, he hit .299 with a home run and 18 runs batted in during the 2006 season.
HUNTER SCHEIB, a 5-10, 165-pound outfielder-shortstop from Free State High School in Lawrence, Kan.: Scheib was an all-state selection at the high school level and also earned honorable mention all-league honors in the Sunflower League. A four-year letterwinner at Free State, he was part of the Kansas Class 6A state championship team in 2006 and was the most valuable player on his American Legion team.
