New S&T Fitness Center scheduled to open October 26

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T is scheduled to open the new S&T Fitness Center on Monday, Oct. 26, a project made possible by the generosity of the Anheuser-Busch Foundation, Roger and Sandy Dorf and the student body at Missouri S&T.
The new fitness center, located on the south side of the university’s Student Recreation Center, is a state of the art facility that will be equipped with a wide array of top level cardio machines -- many with touch screens and television -- free weights including dumbbells, Olympic weight bars, plates and racks; weight machines and a core area with exercise balls and medicine balls. The facility is air conditioned.
“I want to start by thanking everyone for their patience during the course of this project,” said Mark Mullin, director of athletics at Missouri S&T. “The campus community should take pride in this new facility and the state of the art equipment it will have. We will have policies in place to make the S&T Fitness Center an outstanding facility today and for many years to come.
“In addition, a special thanks should go to Roger and Sandy Dorf, the Anheuser-Busch Foundation and the Missouri S&T student body for their generosity in making this possible,” Mullin added.
The S&T Fitness Center will be free to current students with a valid I.D. Individuals using the Fitness Center must have their valid I.D. with them in the center; no exceptions will be made to this rule.
Memberships are available for faculty, staff, retirees, and spouses. The normal annual fee is $120 per year per person; however, for the first year it is being prorated to $100 due to the later than anticipated opening. Dependent children memberships for 16 years of age and older will be available for $60 a year each ($50 per year prorated for this year) with hours restricted to weekends.
For university employees, monthly payroll deduction will be available for annual memberships only, which will run September 1 through August 31. Memberships paid by payroll deduction will continue until the Fitness Center is notified in writing of the desire to discontinue membership. Memberships, other than those paid by payroll deduction, will have to be paid in full and must be renewed by August 31st of each year.
Membership applications (including waivers) and the payroll deduction forms are available at the Student Recreation Center Website at http://studentrec.mst.edu/ . Forms should be completed and returned to Andy Scholl, Fitness Center Manager. They can be returned by campus mail, regular mail or by bringing them to the S&T Fitness Center. After payment and verification of status, users will be notified of their approval to use the facility.
The hours of operation for the facility for students, faculty, staff, retirees, and spouses will be Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Saturday hours will be 10:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and Sunday hours will be 1:00 p.m. -9:30 p.m. Dependent children hours will be from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on Friday, and regular hours on Saturday and Sunday. Hours may be reduced or the facility may be closed during holidays or when classes are not in session. Changes in the schedule will be posted in advance.
