PERSONAL: Born May 9, 1990…son of Joe and Kelly Vernon…earned two conference most valuable player awards at the high school level…won the league title in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events in a year when he took second in both at the Nebraska state meet. He posted a time of 21.33 seconds in the finals in the 50-free and 47.27 in the 100-free. During the season, he had the state's best time in the 100-freestyle and second-best mark in the 50-free…majoring in engineering.
