Swimming National Letter of Intent Signings

PHILIP ARVE, from Athens Drive High School in Cary, N.C.: Arve was named as his team’s most valuable player following his freshman and junior seasons at the high school level. A competitor in the butterfly and distance freestyle, Arve finished 11th at the North Carolina state meet in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.38 and 14th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.50 seconds. He was also part of his team’s 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that reached the finals at the state meet last season.
ANDREW SCHRANCK, from Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, Ill.: Schranck became the second competitor in the history of his school to earn a medal in the sport with his ninth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at the 2007 Illinois State Championships. He had a time of 23.45 in the finals of that race. He also competed in the 100-freestyle at the meet and posted a time of 47.76. He also qualified for the meet in his sophomore season.
HAMILTON VERNON, from Burke High School in Omaha, Neb.: Vernon earned his conference's most valuable player award after a season in which he took second in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events at the Nebraska state meet. He posted a time of 21.33 seconds in the finals in the 50-free and 47.27 in the 100-free. During the season, he had the state's best time in the 100-freestyle and second-best mark in the 50-free.
