2008 Missouri S&T Summer Camps

JOE MINER SPORTS CAMP (May 27-30) -- Camp brochure
The Joe Miner sports camp will run from 9 a.m.-noon starting Tuesday, May 27 and ending Friday, May 30 at the athletic complex on the Missouri S&T campus. The camp, which is for boys and girls entering grades 3-8 in the 2008-09 school year, features a variety of activities daily, with the sports being offered being archery, baseball/softball, golf, soccer, basketball, swimming, volleyball and touch football.

All campers will be required to wear tennis shoes and bring equipment for the following sports: swimming (swim suit and towel) and baseball/softball (fielder's glove). Also, golfers may bring their own clubs if they wish. All other equipment will be furnished. The cost of the camp is $60 per person; it will be $50 per person for two or more in each family. Registration forms are available in the Missouri S&T athletics department. The final registration will take place at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27. All campers will receive a Joe Miner Sports Camp visor.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CAMP (June 9-12) -- Camp brochure
The women's basketball team will run from 9 a.m.-noon starting Monday, June 9 and ending Thursday, June 12 in the Student Recreation Center at Missouri S&T. The camp, which is for girls entering grades 3-10 in the 2008-09 school year, allows players to learn and develop the fundamentals and skills of the game as well as learning ideals in sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship. The camp will also include games and skill competitions and prizes will be awarded to the winners. Campers will be divided into groups based on their age and ability; eight-foot goals will be used for the younger campers. All players must provide their own shoes and the basketballs will be provided. The cost of the camp $80 for individuals or $70 for each individual in families with two or more campers. Registration forms are available in the Missouri S&T athletics department; the final registration will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 9.

TRACK & FIELD CAMP (June 30-July 3) -- Camp brochure
The track and field camp will run from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. starting Monday, June 30 and ending Thursday, July 3 at the Missouri S&T track at Allgood-Bailey Stadium. The camp, which is for students ages 12-18, allows indivdiuals to learning the fundamentals of running and jumping events over the four days, with the concentration on sprinting and hurdling during the first two days and the jumps (long, triple and high) on the final two days. Jumpers are encouraged to take part in the sprinting portion of the camp. The cost of the camp is $60 for the sprinting session, $60 for the jumping session or $100 for both sessions. Registration forms are available in the Missouri S&T athletics department; the final registration will take place at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, June 30. Campers will need to provide or purchase their own lunch.

FOOTBALL CAMP (July 10) -- Camp brochure
The football camp will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 at the Missouri S&T football practice field, located immediately south of Allgood-Bailey Stadium. The camp, which is for students entering grades 3-7, will emphasize teaching skills for all positions, including kicking. All campers will received a Missouri S&T football shirt that will get that individual free admission to any home football game during the 2008 season. All players must provide their own shoes and mouthpiece; no other football equipment shall be worn. The cost of the camp is $25 and lunch will be included. Registration forms are available in the Missouri S&T athletics department; the final registration will take place at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 10.

SOCCER CAMP (July 14-17) -- Camp brochure
The soccer camp will run from 5-6 p.m. for children ages 3-5 and from 6-7:30 p.m. for children ages 6-12 starting Monday, July 14 and ending Thursday, July 17 at the Missouri S&T Soccer Field. The camp is designed for participants to focus on learning the fundamentals in a fun environment. Campers will be grouped based on age and ability and age apporpriate drills and games will be part of the camp. All players must bring a soccer ball, shin guards, water bottle and appropriate footwear; campers should also bring tennis shoes in the event of inclement weather for indoor sessions. The cost of the camp is $50 per camper, or $40 per camper with two or more campers from the same family. Registration forms are available in the Missouri S&T athletics department; the final registration will take place at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 14.

TRACK & FIELD POLE VAULT CAMP (July 14-16) -- Camp brochure
The track and field camp will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. starting Monday, June 14 and ending Wednesday, July 16 at the Missouri S&T track at Allgood-Bailey Stadium. The camp allows indivdiuals to learn the fundamentals of pole vaulting, with the concentration on learning a proper drill series to improve technique in the event. The cost of the camp is $75. Registration and medical waiver forms are available in the Missouri S&T athletics department; the final registration will take place at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 14. Campers will need to provide or purchase their own lunch.

The volleyball team will run three camps this summer. The first camp is a general all skills camp for boys and girls entering grades 6-12, while the second is an advanced specialty camp which will be for varsity level boys and girls entering grades 9-12. Those camps will start on Monday, July 21 and run through Wednesday, July 23. All campers will be required to bring appropriate footwear, knee pads and clothing for each session. The cost of the camp $175 for residents, $130 for commuters with meals and $90 for commuters with no meals included. A $60 deposit is required. There will be an additional $10 fee per camper for enrollment on the day the camp starts. Registration forms are available in the Missouri S&T athletics department; the final registration will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 21.

In addition, there will be a Little Diggers camp for boys and girls entering grades 1-6 in the 2007-08 school year, which will take place on Thursday, July 24. The camp will start at 8:30 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. The cost of the camp is $45 and a snack will be provided for the participants.

The camp will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and the focus will be on the development of technical skills and tactical awareness through the speed of play, small-sided and eight-on-eight games. The camp will also include information sessions on the recruiting process, player development and expectations for student-athletes at the collegiate level. The camp is open to all boys entering the ninth through 12th grade in the 2008-09 school year and all campers will be required to bring indoor and outdoor shoes, shinguards, a water bottle and appropriate attire for the weather. The cost of the camp $45 and all campers will receive a camp shirt. Registration forms are available in the Missouri S&T athletics department; those planning on participating should register by Saturday, July 19.

NOTE TO ALL CAMP PARTICIPANTS:
All campers must have a physican's statement confirming their fitness for athletic activity. Physical records required by the participant's school are acceptable. Insurance company name and policy number for health and accident is required for enrollment.
